The Duke of Sussex - Prince Harry, has attacked Prince Charles repeatedly in the media over the past few months. In his two interviews with Oprah Winfrey, he has effectively accused his father of bullying him and Prince William.
In a docuseries about Mental health titled The Me You Can’t See released on Friday, Prince Harry took a direct shot at his parenting asserting Prince Charles told him and William to struggle and said:
My father used to say to me when I was younger, 'Well, it was like that for me, so it’s going to be like that for you.
What he further said appeared to be a comment on the Queen and Prince Philip’s parenting. Prince Harry said he didn’t blame Charles for his parenting failings as ‘his father knows no better because of how he was raised.’
The Royal Take on it
Reportedly after Harry’s comments the queen is ‘deeply upset’ and has taken the attacks ‘very personally’. Speaking to Daily Mail, a royal source said:
Charles will want to engage, but it’s fair to say what Harry has said in both interviews with Oprah has been seen as very callous within the family. If Harry was to attack the Queen in a more personal way, Charles would close ranks with the Queen without a doubt and Harry would be out in the cold.
Harry’s relentless rants have been very upsetting especially, to Prince Charles. A friend of Prince Charles added that he must be feeling ‘wretched’ as his ‘one aim is to seek reconciliation with his son.' The source further added that it has been a ‘very upsetting’ time and said:
Prince Charles is such a gentleman and a dedicated father first and foremost. He wants to seek reconciliation. He is not vindictive at all.
Royals struggle to understand Harry
In the documentary, Harry also vocalized how when he wanted help for his wife Meghan’s suicidal tendencies, the efforts were ‘met with total silence or total neglect.’ Amongst all these claims the Royal Family is struggling to understand what Prince Harry hopes to achieve with all these tell-all interviews. An insider told the Daily Mail:
Everyone is struggling to understand what he gets from, or hopes to achieve, by interventions like this… It is perfectly possible to campaign effectively on the issue of mental health without talking in such intimate detail about his own experiences.
