While it may look like the Royal Family doesn’t have much to do, there are a lot of engagements that they have to take care of. Now another significant and senior Royal Family member has taken a ‘short break’ from his Royal duties.
Prince Edward takes a ‘short break’ from Royal Duties
According to The Express, the Duke of Edinburgh is taking a ‘short break’ from his Royal duties. This comes as he has no engagements planned for the next week. The Royal Family’s website states that his next Royal engagement is planned for February 8, 2024.
This means that the Royal Family’s entire workforce is of just three people - Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and Duchess Sophie. Meanwhile, eagle-eyed Royal fans have taken notice of his absence. The short break news has left many Royal fans concerned. One wrote on X:
Hopefully he just needs a bit of rest.
Another added:
HRH The Duke Of Edinburgh has done back-to-back engagements plus has been flying all over the world. Good on him for having a break. Rest up Sir and enjoy your break.
A third worried that this is an ‘unexpected’ move and they hope we will get ‘rest and recharge’ soon. Many other Royals fans have also flocked to the social media site to send their prayers and good wishes for the Duke.
Royal Family’s difficult start of the year
Royal Family has had a challenging start to the year. King Charles and Kate Middleton have both been discharged from hospital but will take some time to recover and get back to work.
Seeing how Prince William is also holding the fort at home amid Kate Middleton’s health scare. This comes after King Charles wanted to slim down the monarchy, but it may not be working out well for them. A fan said:
They are all in their seventies. Charle's slimming down of the monarchy didn't really work out, did it?
While Prince Edward was in St Helena, the monarch was down to only two working Royals, reports The Express. A royal expert also blasted King Charles’ vision of slimmed down monarchy and said ‘it could not function the same way [as before].’
