Prince William’s decision to send Prince George to Eton College upsets Kate Middleton
According to The Mirror, Prince William and Kate Middleton have already toured the next-in-line's old boarding school Eton College with the plan to send the young prince there in a few years. Prince George is currently 10 years old and still has about 3 years left to join Eton as usually pupils start with the boarding school at 13.
Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince George were seen touring the school’s Windsor headquarters in June last year. However, the Princess is dreading the decision to send her eldest son to Eton. A Royal insider shared:
Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away, even though it’s tradition. Kate thinks sending him to such a stuffy, upper-crust institution goes against all of their efforts to modernise the monarchy.
Plus, she’ll miss George desperately. She and William argued about it for years, but he has finally won.
The unknown insider claims that Kate gave in to Prince William’s wish after she realised that Prince George desires ‘to be just like his father’ and joining the £15,432-a-term exclusive school will be his first step towards it. The insider added:
But she’s still heartbroken. She was horribly bullied at her first boarding school, and can’t bear the thought of George suffering through that.
How does the move to Eton affect Kate Middleton and Prince George?
Kate Middleton, however reluctantly, is going to skip a planned visit to Singapore in November so that she can be with Prince George. The young royal is expected to take Eton's 150-minute verbal and mental reasoning entrance exam.
Prince William and Prince Harry both attended school at Eton after King Charles and Princess Diana decided to break the tradition of sending Royals to Gordonstoun in Scotland. Prince William usually used to visit his late grandmother during weekends while he was enrolled at Eton.
Prince George can also easily visit his family at Adelaide Cottage as the noted school is barely a nine-minute drive away from their residence. The insider added:
But it still seems as if her family is being torn apart. There’s also the worry that William will insist the other two kids be shipped off next. Kate knows this is all part of her ‘royal duty.’
