No exploitation
As the Sussexes get ready to spend four days celebrating Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, it may cause more tension than release any existing ones. According to their deal with Netflix, the streaming giant follows the couple to most places that they visit. Amidst this, the palace has fears that they will try to barge into the Platinum Jubilee celebrations as well. A well-placed source told The Sun:
While the family are delighted Harry and Meghan are coming, there is a real fear of tension, especially over any Netflix crew. There are concerns tension could explode if the Netflix team comes to the UK and tries to exploit their opportunities.
The worry is they will push it and try to gain access to areas of Jubilee celebration events where they can film Harry and Meghan and their children.
After months of indecision, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently confirmed visiting the UK to attend the 96-year-old monarch’s Platinum Jubilee celebration.
Not that easy after all
The fears emerge from the fact that Netflix will view this event as an opportunity to exploit it for their advantage. Meaning, even if the streaming giant crew is not allowed inside Buckingham Palace, they could still cause a distraction. The source added:
Even if they accept that their Netflix crew can’t go into Buckingham Palace to film, they could cause problems – and at the very least cause a major distraction.
Senior courtiers believe that Netflix will see it as one big opportunity to exploit their mega-millions agreement with the couple.
So a team of Palace aides will be on standby to keep a very close eye on the crew and act as minders if needs be.
This comes after Netflix recently snubbed the Duchess of Sussex’s new show ‘Pearl’ as it lost a significant part of their memberships. After the show was snubbed by Netflix, it was also removed from Archewell’s site.
