Villa for sale
The 13,599 sq ft Mediterranean-style property is located on stunning grounds with palm trees. According to Mirror, the citrus orchard covered property is now for sale for $33.5 million (£26.7 million).
The regal house – listed by Top Ten Real Estate Deals – was the backdrop for many interviews filmed in the Sussex documentary. This included interviews from Prince Harry’s childhood friend Nicky, David Olusoga – British historian, writer, broadcaster, presenter and BAFTA-winning film-maker, Meghan’s friends Lucy Fraser and Vicky Tsai, and her former agent Nick Collins.
Other star-studded features include Abigail Spencer and podcast host Dhru Purohit.
Villa details
The Netflix-popular villa is listed with Ryan Malmsten of Santa Barbara Brokers. The mansion is a nine-minute drive away from the Sussexes’ home and is worth double their actual home. However, the 888 Lilac Drive propertydoes have a striking resemblance to their own home.
The property – which has a Wimbledon-quality lawn – boasts a stunning six-bedrooms, an outdoor swimming pool, bar and magnificent hot tub. The $33.5 million property also has a library, movie room, games room and gym. The luxury house has a regal feel with beautiful chandeliers and arched windows.
Why didn't they film in their own home? As TMZ reports, this is not an unusual move for productions like this. The location is not that important, it merely serves as background scenery. In addition, it is likely the couple chose to film the documentary elsewhere due to privacy reasons, like Michael Jordan did for his documentary 'The Last Dance'.
