Prince Joachim and Princess Marie to join Harry and Meghan in US
The Danish Prince and Princess are moving from Paris to Washington DC in the summer with their son, Henrik, 13, and daughter, Athena, 11, as Joachim begins a new job at the Danish Embassy.
The two Princes are reportedly friends and share a number of similarities. Both have served in the military and their moves were seemingly sparked by family differences.
In 2017, when the Duke of Sussex visited Copenhagen, Joachim accompanied him at several programmes for fellow veterans.
The Danish couple’s move is significant as it follows Queen Margrethe II's decision to strip Joachim's four children of their Prince and Princess titles. The announcement made international headlines and Joachim, like Harry before him, gave a televised interview criticising the move.
Joachim previously described Prince Harry and Meghan’s infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey as 'brave'.

Danish Royal couple unhappy about stripping of titles
Joachim revealed to Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet how he was given only five days' notice before the announcement was made. He said:
We are, as my parents have also stated, in shock at this decision and at how quickly it has actually gone. I am very confused as to why it has to happen like this.
Joachim also addressed the issue to another Danish newspaper BT, saying:
To tell my children that on New Year’s their identity will be taken from them. I am very, very sorry to see them uncomprehending about what is happening over their heads...
I can say that my children are upset. My kids don’t know which leg to stand on. What they should believe? Why should their identity be removed? Why must they be punished in that way?
Whether you modernize or slim down, it must be done in a proper way.
It's about children. Orderliness and children. It is a very heavy matter.
The Royal Household defended the decision, saying it was made in accordance with 'the Queen’s wish to future-proof' the monarchy. However, Princess Marie told a Danish tabloid that 'there’s nothing modern about hurting children’s feelings'.
As a result, Henrik and Athena are now known as Count and Countess of Monpezat.
