Before his wedding to Duchess Meghan, Prince Harry went to therapy. In his documentary series The Me You Can't See, he tells Oprah Winfrey that the death of his mother and the experience of walking behind her coffin in front of the world as a 12-year-old were traumatic experiences for him. He carried the trauma with him for a long time. Until he met Meghan.

Harry claims Meghan told him to go to therapy
Markle quickly realised that he was 'angry about the incessant and invasive intrusion of the media into his life,' he told the Armchair Expert podcast. After an argument, she would have advised him to seek help.
It was getting to know and be with Meghan. I knew that if I didn't do therapy and fix myself, I would lose this woman I could spend the rest of my life with.
Royal biographer questions Harry's statement
That was the official statement of the Prince. And yet voices are now being raised claiming that the Duke of Sussex lied. Royal biographer Angela Levin is certain that there is another reason why Harry opted for EMDR treatment. In an interview before his engagement to Meghan, she asked him if he was going to therapy because of her. His answer was:
Absolutely not, she had nothing to do with it, it was William.
Why Harry said otherwise on the podcast and in conversation with Oprah is unclear. Although there is one element in support of the statement that his brother advised him to seek therapy. It's the fact that the two of them, together with Duchess Kate, launched the Heads Together campaign in 2017, which dealt with mental health and advocated for the initiative to seek professional help in such cases.
