Indeed, people on social media have been putting in quotes ‘my father has never hugged me’ and then making a video compilation of photos of a young Prince Harry and his father hugging.
However, Newsweek has gone into great detail and ‘debunked’ the claims made on social media.
Prince Harry never said ‘my father has never hugged me’
As mentioned, the media has used the quote ‘my father has never hugged me.’ However, after some digging, Newsweek found that the sentence ‘my dad never hugged me’ was never used by Prince Harry.
In his book, the Duke of Sussex talked about what it was like growing up within the Royal Family. One of his recollections is when King Charles tells him that his mother, Princess Diana had died.
In his recollection, he said that in this one instance, then-Prince Charles didn’t hug young Prince Harry as he announced his mother’s death and simply placed a hand on his knee.
Pa didn't hug me. He wasn't great at showing emotions under normal circumstances, how could he be expected to show them in such a crisis? But his hand did fall once more on my knee and he said: 'It's going to be OK.'

Prince Harry didn’t hug the Queen
According to Newsweek, the one time Prince Harry says he ‘never hugged’ was when talking about his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
He recalls his grandmother’s Golden Jubilee concert in 2002:
To see her tapping her foot and swaying in time, I wanted to hug her
But of course I didn't. Out of the question. I never had done and couldn't imagine any circumstance under which such an act would be sanctioned.
