Britain's future King and Queen attended the festivities, to the surprise of many, given that Prince William and Kate did not publically announce their presence until a few hours before the ceremony. Despite that, they are not the only guests who people were surprised to see.
Kate Middleton's family spotted at the event
Prince William and Kate were not the only royals from the British monarchy who decided to show their support to the Jordanian Royal Family. Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mozzi also showed up.
However the most surprising guests of all were Kate's mother, Carole Middleton—who has recently been in the public eye over her business Party Pieces—and her sister Pippa, who was accompanied by husband James Matthews. It is not known whether they came along with Kate, or if Kate's family has their own connections to the Jordanian family, but their presence was indeed unexpected.
Royal News Network tweeted:
As per reports, 1700 guests were invited to the state banquet which took place after the wedding, but only 140 guests were allowed to attend the wedding itself.
Only 140 selected guests were allowed to attend the wedding itself. Princess Beatrice, 34, and her husband Edoardo Mozzi, 39, were also present. Prince William's cousin was seen wearing a tiara for the first time since her own wedding ceremony three years ago.
What were the Royals wearing?
Given that it was such a lavish wedding, you can bet that these 1700 guests were decked out in their finest attire!
Princess Beatrice was seen wearing a tiara, for the first time her own wedding ceremony three years ago.
Kate chose to wear a pink lacy creation by Elie Saab, the same designer who made the bride's dress. She kept in line with the Arab country's customs by wearing something modest. Prince William wore his classic dark suit, with white shirt and blue tie.
After the wedding, Princess Rajwa changed to a white dress by Dolce & Gabbana. Princess Kate, on the other hand, decided to chose a shimmery pink dress by Jenny Packham, one of her favourite designers. To accompany the dress, she sported the diamond and pearl-studded 'Lover's Knot' tiara—a piece of jewelry was often seen on Princess Diana.
