Prince William and Kate Middleton have been married for 12 years and they are often considered one of the most cherished Royal couples in British history. William isthe heir apparent to the British Throne, which makes Middleton the next Queen Consort.

William and Kate officially started interacting with each other when they enrolled at the University of St. Andrews in 2001. Hello Magazine reports that the couple initially chose to keep their relationship private from the public eye.
A rough patch
According to Vogue, the couple split in 2007, speculatively due to William joining the Household Cavalry and the long-distance put a strain on the relationship. Additionally, there were images of William partying that were circulated in tabloids which may have further bolstered the strain they were facing.
That being said, they managed to patch up and William officially proposed to Kate in 2010, and the couple got married a year later. From that point onward, the couple has maintained an image of grace and finesse over the years.
Vogue further reports that following the ascension of King Charles III as the head of the monarchy, William and Kate have officially received the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales, respectively, and are expected to continue their Royal duties.
