Indeed, when Queen Elizabeth was ruling, she kept many working royals. Her cousins, children, and grandchildren all took on important roles. When King Charles took over, he opted for a smaller monarchy, with fewer working Royals.
As heir to the throne, many are speculating what kind of king Prince William will be when the time comes. A source claims he may be the ‘toughest ruler the family has ever seen’.
Prince William could be the ‘toughest ruler’
A source exclusively told In Touch they believe the Prince of Wales is already ‘flexing’ his Royal power. In the past year, Prince William has been given more responsibility following his father’s health.
As a result, the source claimed he ‘has never been more influential’. Moreover, due to the King’s advanced age (76), he is giving his eldest son ‘more responsibility’ and is ‘acknowledging that his time to rule will be sooner, rather than later’.
Speaking to In Touch, the unnamed source claimed that Prince William would remove any members who ‘push back’.
It’s no secret that anyone who pushes back against him will be swiftly shown the door; he’s not willing to take any nonsense and the word is he’s already on his way to being the toughest ruler the family has ever seen.
King Charles’ slimmed-down monarchy
Before Charles became King, speculation was rife that he would be slimming down the monarchy and reducing costs. This did indeed happen when he became King. His ‘support system’ for royal engagements was smaller in 2024. Not to mention the fact that some working royals, like the Duke of Kent, are getting older and hence less active.
But among those who still maintain important positions with the king are Princess Anne, who was once again named the hardest-working Royal in 2024, Prince Edward, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.
Naturally, the heir to the throne, Prince William, is included in the inner circle, along with his wife, Princess Kate, who took a step back in 2024 to focus on her health. Queen Camilla is also included in the slimmed-down monarchy.
Despite not being included in King Charles’ slimmed-down monarchy, some members of the Royal Family still undertake royal engagements. For King Charles’ coronation, the Princesses of York took part in several events.
Moreover, due to King Charles and Princess Kate’s health in 2024, several family members rallied to help support the king when he was unable to attend certain events.
