Despite stepping back, the Prince of Wales still goes on some Royal outings and his most recent engagement would have been one close to Princess Kate’s heart. In fact, during said visit, Prince William talked about his wife.
Moreover, on a different visit, Prince William gave a rare insight into life at home with his three children. The Prince of Wales revealed they had acquired new pets.
Prince William briefly talks about Princess Kate
Prince William recently visited St Michael's Church of England High School after one of their pupils, Freddie Hadley, 12, wrote a letter to the Prince of Wales on X - formerly Twitter - inviting him to see the work he has done for mental health in his school.
As per Daily Mail, Prince William praised Freddie for his letter, telling staff:
Lots of people write letters but Freddie's was a really well written letter. I promised I would come.
The Prince of Wales then added that his wife, Princess Kate, who recently made history, would have loved to have been there as she is a strong advocate for mental health, especially in young people.
I am sorry Catherine can't be here as well. She would have loved to.
Freddie had written the letter to Prince William on World Mental Health Day back in October 2023 to highlight the work he and his friends had been doing for mental health at his school in Rowley Regis, Sandwell. To Freddie’s surprise, the Prince of Wales had personally written back:
Good afternoon Freddie, I'm so sorry Catherine and I can't be with you and the rest of the students at St Michael's today. Tackling mental health challenges and stigmas head on is so important, please keep up this important work. W
However, it seemed as though Prince William was very interested in the work young Freddie had been doing as he showed up unannounced to visit Freddie and his classmates, as per Daily Mail.
Prince William reveals they have new pets
As reported by Hello!, Prince William visited Woodgate Valley Urban Farm in Birmingham on April 25 and helped take care of some guinea pigs with children. As he was grooming one guinea pig with a child, Prince Williamrevealed that he has some at home.
These guys are pretty cool. We've got guinea pigs at home and they're not like this.
As many parents who have children and pets, the father of three admitted that he is usually the one to clean out the guinea pigs’s cages as his children ‘forget to do it’.
I spend my life cleaning out the guinea pig cage because the children forget to do it. The ones we've got at home, they're off. You have to keep them constantly stroked and looked after.
As per Hello!, Woodgate Valley Urban Farm is a city-based farm dedicated to supporting young people and children who struggle with access to education as well as those who are experiencing mental health issues.
