Endgame for Harry and Meghan
Queen Elizabeth II confirmed in a statement this Friday, February 19, that Harry and his wife Meghan Markle would no longer be 'active members of the Royal Family.' The communiqué reads:
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have confirmed to Her Royal Highness The Queen that they will never return as active members of the Royal Family. Following conversations with the Duke, the Queen wrote to confirm that by renouncing the job related to being a member of the Royal Family it was not possible to continue to perform the responsibilities and duties inherent to a life in the public service.
As a result, Harry and Meghan lost their royal titles and patronages. But the story does not end there as the Sussex spouses were keen to respond to the Queen by saying that they would continue their work and their engagement. The said in particular:
We can live a life of engagement. Engagement is universal.
William 'shocked and saddened' by his brother
This response has particularly 'shocked and saddened' Prince William who considers his little brother's attitude as 'insulting and disrespectful' to the Queen. Indeed, according to a source close to the Duke of Cambridge, 'no one talks back to the Queen.'
According to the same source, William is 'furious' but would still like to pick up the pieces one day with Harry:
William is upset by what happened, although he absolutely intends to improve the relationship between Harry and him over time.
