Indeed, they reunited during the late Queen Elizabeth’s funeral and also went on a walkabout together with their respective wives to see the messages and gifts left for their grandmother.
More recently, the brothers attended their uncle’s funeral, but according to those who attended, they stayed on opposite sides of the room.
As Prince William works on his homelessness project, he makes a first and mentions his brother in an upcoming documentary.
Prince William talks about homelessness to his children
In his upcoming documentary, Prince William talks about his homelessness project. As per Sky News, he reveals that he has talked to his children about homelessness just like his mother did to him and his brother.
The Prince of Wales explained that he wasn’t sure whether to bring it up or wait for his children to notice, then on a school run they asked about it.
The first few times I thought 'do I bring this up or should I wait to see if they notice?’
Sure enough, they did. They were sort of in silence when I said what was going on.
The father-of-three then talks about the impact it had on him when his mother, Princess Diana, would talk about it.
Prince William briefly talks about Prince Harry
In his documentary, the Prince shared some unseen photographs of his mother when they visited shelters in London. He recalled being a ‘bit anxious’ as he didn’t know what to expect but looked back fondly, having ‘some good conversation, playing chess and chatting’.
One of the photos shared for the documentary shows Princess Diana with both of her children, William and Harry at a shelter in 1993, as per Daily Mail. Prince Wiliam also directly says his brother’s name, which is believed to be the first time he has said it publicly in six years per the tabloid.
My mother took me to the Passage, she took Harry and I both there... I'd never been to anything like that before and I was a bit anxious as to what to expect.
Some people have suggested this may be an olive branch toward Prince Harry amidst their ongoing feud.
What is Prince William’s project?
Prince William’s project is called Homewards and, as per the Royal Foundation website, it is a five-year project, ‘locally led’ with the goal of ending homelessness. At the moment, Homewards is focusing on six areas in the UK: Aberdeen; Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole; Lambeth; Newport; Northern Ireland and Sheffield.
The Prince of Wales has been criticised for leading this project due to his privilege. In his documentary, he addresses these criticisms and believes his ‘position and my platform’ is the reason he should be acting.
I feel with my position and my platform, I should be delivering change.
Adding that he feels ‘compelled to act’ and not just talk about it.
I feel compelled to act because I don't want to just talk about it. I don't want to just listen. I actually want to see someone smile because their life has been made better.
So therefore building a project is the only way I can see at the moment to try and alleviate and help people who are in a much less fortunate or a very difficult situation.
As per Sky News, Prince William’s documentary, Prince William: We Can End Homelessness airs on 30 and 31 October at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX, STV and STV Player.
