As it turns out, there is a specific reason she does and her mother, Queen Elizabeth would do the same, perhaps that is where she picked up the habit.
The simple answer to this question is that Princess Anne wears gloves for sanitary reasons. Indeed, since she does so many engagements, she meets lots of people and most likely shakes a lot of hands.
It’s the same for Prince William, who hugged a royal fan and joked he would get into trouble later.
Princess Anne often wears gloves
As we said before, Princess Anne is known to wear gloves to almost all of her royal engagements, even when it’s a hot day. Indeed, during the Royal Ascot, she was wearing gloves, even though it is a very hot June this year.
According to Express, the reason the Princess Royal wears gloves is that she shakes hands with a lot of people, and it’s a good way to avoid spreading germs, especially after the whole pandemic, it makes sense to want to avoid cross-contamination.
The late Queen Elizabeth was known to wear gloves during her royal outings and it was most likely for the same reasons.

Even though the late Queen Elizabeth and Princess Anne choose to wear gloves during public engagements, not all members follow suit.

Prince William has been touring the UK recently as he promotes his brand-new campaign to end homelessness. His most recent visit was to Belfast in Northern Ireland.
During a spontaneous walkabout, Prince William surprised fans by hugging one member of the public, which is rarely seen, especially by Senior Royals. After the hug, Prince William joked that he’ll ‘get into big trouble’.
