Princess Beatrice: The monarch's stepson can't attend US schools because of America's gun problem

Princess Beatrice is the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah, Duchess of York. In July 2020, she married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, an Italian property developer. Mozzi has a young son named Christopher 'Wolfie' Woolf from a previous relationship, whom Beatrice has welcomed into her family with open arms.

Who is Wolfie in the Royal Family?

Princess Beatrice's stepson, Christopher Woolf Mapelli Mozzi, also known as Wolfie, is one of the lucky children who spends a lot of time with the royal family. According to Townandcountry, he is the six-year-old son of Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and his ex-wife, US-born architect Dara Huang. While little is known about him, it is clear that he spends a significant amount of time with his father and Princess Beatrice, who lovingly refers to him as her 'bonus son'.

Although Edo had only recently started attending the Sandringham Christmas walk with Beatrice in 2019, Wolfie had his first public appearance with the British royal family in June at the Platinum Jubilee Pageant, reports Page Six. However,Wolfie has been part of Princess Beatrice's family for some time, having served as a page boy and his father's best man at their private wedding in July 2020.

Following the birth of his half-sister Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi in September 2021, Princess Beatrice and Edo shared that they were doing well and that Wolfie was being the best big brother to Sienna.

Tragically sad reason why Wolife can't have US education

Despite his mother’s American roots, Wolfie is receiving education in the UK, and his mother recently spoke out about the tragic reason behind this decision.

The reason for Wolfie's education in the UK, rather than in the US, is due to Dara Huang's concerns about gun crime. In a social media post, she explained her relief that her son is not at risk of dying in a school shooting in the UK.

According to the Mirror, the US has experienced over 600 mass shootings and 1,500 gun-related deaths in 2021 alone, making it one of the most dangerous places in the world for children to go to school. As of 2022, gun crime has surpassed car accidents as the leading cause of death for American children, reports The New York Times.

Writing on social media, the Florida-born architect said:

I'm glad my son doesn't go to school in the USA. I can sleep at night knowing he won't die at his desk tomorrow morning.

Dara, who was engaged to Edo until 2018 but decided to call off their relationship, said in her comment:

Not to get all political here, but I went to a sports store in the US to buy tennis shoes today and couldn't help but notice this huge gun section – post Xmas sale.

She also mentioned how easy it is to buy a gun in the US:

So I walked up to the man and said, 'What do I need to buy a gun home? Do I need a licence?' And he said, 'No, you can buy one right now and either take it in two days or take a $50 two-hour 'conceal and carry course' and bring it home right now.

The Mirror previously notes that Wolfie has been receiving private homeschooling in the UK. In 2021, Princess Beatrice herself revealed this and said it was one of her biggest joys during the pandemic. She told the Evening Standard:

My stepson has been home schooling. Helping him engage with stories is a great journey to inspire imagination, creativity, independence and humour.
