A brand new musical about the life of Princess Diana is now set to premiere on Netflix after its Broadway premiere was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The show had begun previews in March but had to close down before the official opening on 31st March due to lockdown measures being put in place. It will now have its Broadway premiere in May 2021 - but in a world first, it'll be coming to Netflix before then.

Likely inspired by the success of Hamilton on Disney+, the new musical is set to be filmed at Broadway's Longacre Theatre with no audience present. The show will then be released on the streaming platform early next year. No release date has yet been announced but we do know it will be before May.
In a statement, the show's producers said:
We speak for the entire company when we say that we couldn’t be more excited to finally be able to share our show with theater lovers everywhere. Though there is no substitute for the live theater, we are honored to be a part of the quality entertainment that Netflix provides its subscribers worldwide.
The show features songs by Joe DiPietro and Bon Jovi star David Bryan - who also wrote the Tony Award-winning musical Memphis. It stars Jeanna de Waal as Princess Diana, Roe Hartrampf as Prince Charles, Erin Davie as Camilla Parker Bowles and Judy Kaye as the Queen.
According to the show's official site, the musical will tell :
