The Queen devastated by Meghan Markle's comments
The court documents from her lawsuit against the Daily Mail have revealed that Markle still holds many grudges against her in-laws. The duchess believes that she was not protected, and would have received fewer benefits than Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
The royal family caught wind of these claims, and needless to say, they did not sit well. The Queen was deeply disappointed by the Duchess's comments because she had always accepted and supported her in her decisions, especially when it came to Megxit on January 8th, 2020, when the couple left the royal family to move to America.
Daily Mail journalist Russel Myers spoke about the Queen's disappointment in a 'Pod save the Queen' podcast on July 2nd. She was, according to him, devastated because she had always been impressed by Meghan.
The long-distance relationship between the Queen and the duchess does not seem to be working too well.
A crisis situation for the royal family
The Duchess of Sussex's lawsuit against the Daily Mail and her comments about her royal treatment has become a heavy burden for the royal family to bear. The last few months have been hard on the Queen since she has had to manage not only the Covid-19 epidemic, but also the health of Prince Charles who had caught the virus, and the scandal surrounding Prince Andrew and the Epstein affair.
But just like any issue, Her Majesty plans to handle these crises with grace.
