On 18 July 2023, royal expert Richard Eden posted a picture on his Instagram account. In it you can see the Duchess of Wales, actors Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz. The three seem to be engaging in casual conversation just before the Wimbledon men’s final.

What Eden comments about in his caption is the positions of the stars in the picture. Indeed, according to him, the fact that the couple isn’t standing up is a sign of their disrespect for the Duchess.
This is not the first time that Eden takes a picture and comments on the lack of respect of the people interacting with Royals. For instance, during President Biden’s latest visit in England, Eden believed that he was unaware of protocol since he touched King Charles III.

Kate Middleton at Wimbledon
The Duchess of Wales is the patron of All England Club and as such she attended many of the matches during the latest Wimbledon tournament.
Every year, Wimbledon becomes more than a tennis competition. It is a place for people watching and as such, each year, stars from all around the world come to watch games. This year Ariana Grande, Emma Watson and Andrew Garfield were among watchers.
Of course, members of the Royal Family are also in attendance. For the final, the Duchess of Wales was accompanied by her husband, Prince William and their two older children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
As the patron of Wimbledon, the Duchess of Wales is expected to greet and exchange pleasantries with the most prestigious guests. This is what happened with Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz.
Richard Eden receives backlash after his comment
In his Instagram post, which he also has now posted on Twitter, the royal expert says:
This photograph makes me uneasy. While there may not have been space for Rachel Weisz to curtsy or Daniel Craig to bow, shouldn't they have at least stood up to greet the Princess of Wales? Craig could have even gone mad and removed his sunglasses 👓
While this is quite a normal comment for Eden to make, his followers didn’t seem to be willing to let this one go.
