Angry palace staff speak out
Harry recently revealed a 'dark secret' he's been carrying since his twenties on the Armchair Expert podcast. Royals expert Sarah Vine confirms the Duke's statement that he has hated life as a royal for a very long time.
Further, in the interview with actor Dax Shephard, he claimed that his father transferred the 'suffering and pain' he went through in his own childhood while raising William and Harry.
These statements are infuriating royal court staff. They feel it is disrespectful to make these serious accusations so soon after the death of his grandfather Prince Philip.
That is why they are demanding Harry's expulsion and that he and Meghan relinquish their royal titles. But it is not that simple: the Sussexes received their titles as a gift from the Queen for their wedding. Moreover, the Prince's title is fixed in birthright.
Accordingly, it is up to the two of them whether they want to use their titles or not. According to their aversion to the British monarchy, this is understandable, but the couple, who have fled to Los Angeles, probably don't want to do without it completely yet.
Normality yes—but not too much!
Nevertheless, one of the reasons for the megxit is that the little family wanted a bit of normality. Harry himself is also said to play a big role in this escape. According to Sarah Vine, he is no longer the little boy mourning his mother, Princess Diana.
The Duke of Sussex has developed and makes his own decisions. Even if these are against his family members. The relationship between him and his big brother as well as his father Charles and Queen Elizabeth is more strained than ever, but that is probably the price of Harry's independence.
Already alienating their new chosen homeland
However, it seems the roaming royals are intent on causing a stir wherever they land. In a recent podcast interview, prince Harry made comments that drew the ire of Americans and Britons alike. In a series of confusing sentences, he seemed to criticize the US constitution's first amendment.
I’ve got so much I want to say about the First Amendment as I sort of understand it, but it is bonkers. [...] You can find a loophole in anything. You can capitalise or exploit what’s not said rather than uphold what is said.
The First Amendment protects the freedom of speech, the press, assembly and right to petition the government in the US. In its broad scope, and foremost position in the national constitution, it is an unique piece of legislature.
