Ferguson was born in London in 1959. Her parents were Major Ronald Ferguson and Susan Barrantes.
Ferguson studied at Queen’s Secretarial College before she decided to drop out and work for an art gallery.
Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew got engaged in 1986.
They got married in Westminster Abbey that July.
She therefore became the Duchess of York.

Years after her split from Prince Andrew and royal life, Ferguson landed a regular slot on the Today show.
In 2011, when Prince William and Kate Middleton got married, Ferguson was not invited to the event.
Later that year, a 6-episode tell-all series came out called Finding Sarah.
In 2014, when Prince Andrew was first linked to known criminal Jeffrey Epstein, Ferguson stood by him.
In February 2021, Ferguson became a grandmother when Eugenie gave birth to her and her husband's first child August.
Later that same year, Beatrice gave birth to her and her husband's first child. Their daughter was born in September and is named Sienna.
Despite the ups and downs of her relationship with the Royal Family, Ferguson did wish to pay her respects at Queen Elizabeth's funeral in 2022.
In 2023, Ferguson was not invited to King Charles' coronation in May.
Later that year, she was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. She underwent successful surgery.
In 2024, Ferguson was seen alongside Prince Andrew celebrating Easter with the Royal Family.
