The last two years have been a rollercoaster for the royals. From Meghan and Harry’s separation from the royal family and Prince Andrew’s latest Epstein scandals, to the birth of Lilibet and the death of Prince Philip, the royals have seen each other through both the best and worst situations. But, how the royals have responded to the good news and dramas have affected their popularity among the British public.

Survey company YouGov’s royal favourability tracker has once again returned to rank which royals are the most popular and which have seen their public image take a nosedive.
Who are the UK’s most popular royals?
Unsurprisingly, the Queen reigns the popularity charts. When asked ‘thinking about the royal family, for each, please say whether you have a positive or negative opinion of them’, as many as 76% of survey participants voted favourably of the monarch.
Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stole second and third place at 72% and 64%, respectively. Honestly, we would expect nothing more of the future King and Queen consort, who have both maintained a steady relationship with the British public.
And, despite his unfortunate passing in April,Prince Philip has not been forgotten by the public, coming in fourth with 63% of respondents claiming to have a favourable opinion of the Queen’s husband.
Who are the UK’s least favourite royals?
The UK’s most popular Brits weren’t ones to stir up much news in the last two years. However, royals most negatively associated in the public’s minds have definitely seen their fair share of headlines.
Coming in as the least popular royal is Prince Andrew, with 66% of the public admitted to having a negative opinion of him. The Queen’s son suffered a blow to his reputation after being associated with suspected sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Now, the Prince’s legal team is fighting accusations of sexual assault after Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre claimed she was forced to have sex with the Prince three times as a minor. Giuffre is now suing the Prince for damages.
Following Prince Andrew, as the second and third least popular Brits are Harry, and Meghan and Eugenie tied. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have 31% and 32% positive opinion score overall, with 44% and 45% disliking the two, respectively.
The pair famously decided to leave the UK for America early last year and have since released a shocking tell-all interview with Oprah, started their own non-profit and signed lucrative deals with both Netflix and Spotify. To top it off, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently welcomed their second child, daughter Lilibet, named in favour of the Queen.
However, when looking at the survey’s millennial participants, Meghan and Harry aren’t all that disliked, coming in a respectable 5th and 6th place.
