CR7 resemblance
A social media uproar has resulted from the uncanny similarity between King Charles' new cypher and Cristiano Ronaldo's own personal insignia. Buckingham Palace revealed the King’s monogram yesterday that consists of his initial C and the letter R that stands for ‘Rex’ – which is Latin for King, confirms MailOnline. It is topped with a Tudor Crown in a reference to his grandfather, George VI.
The Tudor crown was also depicted on the cyphers of Edward VII, Edwards VIII, George V and George VI. The Lord Lyon King of Arms gave his approval for the Scottish Crown to the symbol's rendition in Scotland.
The new cypher is set to replace Queen Elizabeth II’s existing monogram – EIIR. While some people have been loving the new cypher, others have been left in stitches as they compare the cypher with CR7’s logo.
The Manchester United ace’s logo is made using his initials CR and his shirt number 7. Ronaldo’s trademark is used to endorse many things including underwear, leather shoes and perfume reports The Sun.
Meanwhile, the King’s cypher will be used on government buildings, state documents and on some post boxes. It has already started being used by government departments and the Royal Household for franking mail.
Other resemblances
The King’s new cypher, according to people, doesn’t only resemble that of Ronaldo’s logo, but also has an uncanny similarity with the Real Madrid badge.
Mirror confirms that people have also compared it with the bizarre cruise ship logo that BBC Apprentice fans might recognise.
