As her Majesty celebrated her 96th birthday this week, she also became the first-ever British royal to reach this historic milestone. In honour of her remarkable leadership for the country, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration is being hosted as one of the biggest royal celebrations the country has ever witnessed. Prince Harry and Prince William’s rift
Speaking to The Sun, Royal Biographer Ingrid Seward pointed out a significant question that thousands of people hold in their hearts – Will prince Harry and William bury the hatchet? The rumours of a rift have already overshadowed a bit of the excitement leading up to the grand event in June. It doesn’t help the cause that royal biographer Tina Brown recently revealed Prince Harry and William's rift existed long before Megxit too.
And while burying the hatchet to celebrate the monarch’s big day is the wise thing to do, it is expected that this may not be the case. Ingrid confirms that Prince Harry has never been the one to take advice and rarely thinks about the consequences of his actions. Meaning, even if he could find the right moment to talk to Prince William and put things behind, he may still like to use the rift to his advantage. Had Prince Harry lived in the same country, things would have been different.
Disgraced Prince Andrew
With his recent appearance with the Queen as he walked alongside her at the thanksgiving service for Prince Philip, Prince Andrew is a figure that has raised many questions. After his sex-abuse case and out of the court settlement, the Queen’s favourite son has been living a low-key life away from the media. However, his prominent appearance at the memorial service may signify a bigger role in the Platinum Jubilee celebration.
However, Ingrid argues that it is a mistake that the royals will not be willing to take again. After relinquishing all his military titles, Prince Andrew’s appearance on the balcony would just embarrass him further. The memorial service for Prince Philip is thought to be a trial event to see how the public responds to Prince Andrew’s public appearances. Disclaimer: it wasn’t well received. As such, the public opinion-sensitive Queen may not want to keep him around. But then again, he is her favourite son and would a celebration without him even be a celebration?
