Take-away, please
According to a report published in the Mirror, the Queen likes to eat fish and chips when she’s at her Scottish holiday home. Her Majesty doesn't order takeout very often, but on exceptional occasions when she visits Balmoral each summer, she can't resist a plate of fish and chips. It is obvious that there are several great local chippies near Her Majesty's residence in Scotland, and when the mood strikes, she will always indulge in the traditional meal.
Every time she places an order, she selects one of the around £10 dishes from the adjacent town of Ballater rather than the luxury meals you might anticipate a queen to eat. She doesn’t only like fish and chips in Balmoral, even when she’s at Windsor, she prefers to eat it but would rather have it cooked than get food in specially. A source confirmed:
She occasionally treats herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral. A footman is dispatched to get it from the local town of Ballater.
This is how she likes her fish
The Queen’s former chef Darren McGrady once explained her ‘refined’ taste for eating fish and chips. McGrady revealed that instead of cooking the fish in batter and deep-frying in lard or oil, the monarch likes another way better. Instead, she would want her dish to be coated in breadcrumbs and baked. He added:
Fish fried in all that crispy rich batter was a little bit too much for her, she preferred a more refined fish and chips.
