Camilla Parker Bowles, wife of Prince Charles
For several weeks now, Queen Elizabeth II has been showing signs of weakness and is causing great concern in the UK and around the world. The 95-year-old monarch was seen walking in public with a cane, something she had not done since 2004. Then, on Wednesday night, Harry and William's grandmother was hospitalised and had to undergo 'preliminary tests.'
Although the Queen of England only has a cold, according to The Mirror, she is still tired and must rest at Windsor Castle. Nevertheless, her subjects know that she is not eternal and that she will eventually pass away. When that day comes, it will be her son, Prince Charles, who will take the throne and become king. He will reign alongside his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles, currently Duchess of Cornwall.
Camille Parker Bowles, 'Queen Consort?'
As Prince Charles prepares to take over the throne, Camilla Parker-Bowles is expected to get a new title when he becomes king. However, there is a good chance that Camilla will not be called 'Queen,' but rather 'Queen Consort.' Elizabeth II will choose her daughter-in-law's new title before she passes.
While the title 'Queen Consort' could be considered, Camilla's son, Tom Parker-Bowles, does not think his mother will get it. 'I honestly don't know if Mum will be called Queen,' he told The Times. He then added:
It hasn't been decided. I'm sure there are a lot of very interesting documentaries about it, but I honestly don't know if it's true.
Finally, at the time of Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles' engagement in 2005, a Clarence House statement explained that the Duchess could answer to the name 'Her Royal Highness the Princess Consort' when the Prince ascends the throne. However, Camilla may not be named in this way out of respect for Lady Diana. It is therefore difficult to know at the moment what Prince Charles' wife will be called by her subjects.
