Indeed, in 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan sat down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they claimed that two members of the family questioned how dark their son’s skin would be. Then in 2022, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex aired a Netflix docu-series, sharing details of their life within the Royal Family.
Finally, in 2023, Prince Harry published his tell-all memoir, Spare, where he made several claims against his family, including an alleged physical fight between Prince William and himself. Due to all these events, it is said that the rift between Prince Harry, Meghan and the Royal Family has deepened.
A royal expert has shared details of an alleged conversation between the Duke of Sussex and the King concerning the Duke’s public complaints.
King Charles allegedly told Prince Harry to stop complaining
Prince Harry and King Charles have rarely seen one another since the Duke moved from the UK to the US. The last time the father and son saw each other was in February, and it was only for 45 minutes.
However, according to royal expert, Tom Quinn, King Charles had a conversation with his youngest son, where he allegedly asked him to ‘stop publicly complaining’ about the Royal Family.
Quinn told Mirror that the King ‘directly’ asked his son to ‘not write' or publish anything further about The Firm or his brother as it might might may cause more harm. The expert then added that, when asked to do something by the King, there are ‘consequences if you do not obey’.
Tom Quinn exclusively told the tabloid:
Harry has been asked directly by his father not to write or say publicly anything further about the family or his brother that might cause trouble. And everyone knows that when a king asks you to do something there are going to be consequences if you do not obey.
He goes on to claim that the reason Prince Harry publicly complains is to ‘get an apology’ and to see whether or not King Charles and Prince William will ‘make amends’. However, he explains that the Duke of Sussex is unable to see that the way to get an apology is to ‘complain in private’.
Over the years that Harry has complained about his treatment by his family he has had just one aim – to get an apology and to see his father and brother make amends.
Harry just can’t see that complaining in private might work; complaining publicly just makes things worse and in Harry’s case that means more and more ties to his past being severed.
Amid this alleged conversation between father and son, Father’s Day is fast approaching, which could be a hard day for both men.
Father’s Day could be a nightmare for Prince Harry
Father’s Day is quickly approaching in the UK and in the US. This year the occasion falls on Sunday, June 16, and, once again according to Tom Quinn, this day could prove difficult for Prince Harry.
The royal expert explains to Mirror that Prince Harry is likely feeling pressure:
King Charles' birthday and Father's Day are both a nightmare for Harry. He knows the world will be watching to see whether he is big enough to reach out to his father.
He then adds that the Duke of Sussex tends to ‘ignore’ his relationship with his father. Quinn continues:
It's easy to forget that Harry really does love his father, he just hates the fact that Charles seems always to support William when there is a family dispute.
Moreover, Father’s Day may be a hard day for King Charles, as he said goodbye to his father, Prince Philip three years ago now. Anyone who has lost a parent or even a family member knows that days like these are often filled with some sadness.
What may not help King Charles is that Father’s Day may also be a reminder for him that he has a strained relationship with one of his sons.
Who is the ‘royal expert’ Tom Quinn?
Recently, it seems that royal expert and author, Tom Quinn has been sharing lots of opinions on the Royal Family, mainly concerning Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. As Quinn claims to know about private conversations between the King and his youngest son, let’s have a look at who this ‘royal expert’ is.
Tom Quinn is a journalist by training but has also published several books. Many of these are ‘biographies’ on the Royal Family, including Gilded Youth, An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, Scandals of the Royal Palaces, and Kensington Palace, An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle.
It is unclear how Tom Quinn gets his information, but according to the synopsis of Kensington Palace, he was able to secure ‘exclusive interviews with palace staff’ both ‘past and present’. As with any ‘royal expert’ it is wise to take their claims with a critical view, as it can never be confirmed where the information is coming from.
Concerning Tom Quinn, there isn’t much information about him, the only details of the author are on the publisher’s website while promoting his various books.
