Christina's appeal to Sumit
Sumit entertained Jenny’s daughter Christina for the very first time recently. And it didn’t go well for him. Sumit admitted having been disowned by his family for his decision to marry Jenny. As per People, Christina addressed the elephant in the room at that point when she asked her mother:
Do you think his mom will ever accept you?
Jenny admitted she didn't see that day coming. ‘No. She is set in her ways, dammit,’ she responded. Imitating her estranged mother-in-law, she said:
This is the culture. This is India. I will never accept this, and Jenny needs to go back to America.
To this, Christina told Sumit that her mother is out there by herself, and Sumit must support her and stand up for her, instead of justifying the situation and his parents’ behavior. And she even said that it was disrespectful to do so otherwise.
Sumit’s hypocrisy in the situation
After Christina made her concern about Sumit’s parents' role in the relationship clear, things soon became a bit awkward. Sumit went on to express the fact that Christina ought to mind her own business and stay out of the situation. This has been seen as ironic, coming from Sumit. As per Screenrant, fans felt that Sumit has been hypocritical for years because he expects Jenny's family to stay out of their issues while his family was constantly intervening and making things worse.
