Ant and Dec ‘begged’ him
According to the pop idol, hosts Ant and Dec, begged him to be on this year's show, as reported by Mirror. When asked about being on the show, Boy George talked about his sexuality, explaining that it is now ‘fashionable’ to be on various shows:
Queen darling! It is about b***dy time isn't it, we are so fashionable now, the gays.
Boy George also said that the hosts played a crucial part in him finally appearing on the show. Indeed, he revealed that the pair had asked him several times over the years.
I think I was asked a couple of times in the past. Then I went on Saturday Night Takeaway to do that a while back, I feel like I was set up by Ant and Dec.
They said to me, what would make you do it and I said, 'if you did like a vegan or vegetarian one', And they said we can, and I thought 'oh s**t’
Boy George vows to be ‘Queen of the Jungle’
Being who he is, Boy George doesn’t want to be king of the jungle but queen of the jungle - and he’d be fabulous.
As this year’s oldest campmate - 61 - Boy George explained that he intends to do his best as he would if he were going on stage to perform:
Listen, I don't think you should go on a show like this if you don't want to do your best. I mean, it's the same as walking on stage. I don't ever walk on stage and think I will give a half level performance, you know. And I feel like I've been paid well for it so I'm going to be a Boy Georgey as I can.
Naturally, as a pop idol, we can expect to hear him sing.
Special treatment?
It would seem that Boy George is receiving some special treatment as he was allowed to personalise his camp uniform.
Instead of the boring red trousers and khaki shirt, Boy George wore a khaki shirt with bright red spots and a crown-shaped hat. The hat could be a sign of his wish to be the queen of the jungle.
As of now, we don’t know if he’ll be allowed to wear his personalised uniform in camp, guess we’ll have to wait until Sunday to find out.
