It looks like Britain’s Got Talent 2021 may not go ahead after all. It was previously confirmed by show judge Amanda Holden that the show was being pushed back from spring to autumn in the hopes that Covid restrictions would be eased by then. However, it now seems that may not be possible.

Will Britain’s Got Talent 2021 go ahead?
An insider source told The Sun:
We are looking at the schedule and even in a best case scenario it is difficult to make it work. There are so many people involved in the show, who all have multiple commitments, that just pushing it back is not a simple task. From hosts Ant and Dec, to judges Simon Cowell and David Walliams, everyone is very busy.
They continued:
We have to discuss the possibility that we won’t see the show again until 2022. There will be millions of viewers gutted. But the safety of the contestants, crew, talent and audience has to take priority. Is everyone going to be vaccinated and can the show feasibly work in the timeframe available? Can mass gatherings go ahead? It’s tight to say the least, and looking rather bleak.
Last year, the auditions stage of Britain’s Got Talent had already been filmed before the first lockdown came into place. The semi-finals were then pre-recorded under social distancing conditions with a virtual audience later in the year, which some say left the show ‘feeling rather flat.’
Will there be a Britain’s Got Talent 2022?
If Britain’s Got Talent 2021 is cancelled, it will be the first year since the show began in 2007 that there hasn’t been a series. It is still likely that the show will return in 2022 for its fifteenth series, even if it can’t go ahead this year. Whilst viewing figures have dropped in recent years, the talent show is still contracted to run until at least 2024.
