It has been ten long years since we were graced with the last Harry Potter film, with the final scene giving fans a glimpse into the future for the famous trio. And now it looks like Warner Bros is working towards giving fans a better look at post-Hogwarts life for Harry, Ron and Hermione.

For many of us, the Harry Potter series ended with The Deathly Hallows, but true Potterheads know that the story continues with JK Rowling’s screenplays ‘The Cursed Child’.
Recently the plays have hit the stage and have been kicking up a storm in both London and New York so it is no surprise that it will also be released as a film.
The play made big news back in 2019 and 2020 as Warner Bros revealed they were in the process of gaining the rights as well as attempting to get the original cast, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint on board. And, it looks like they were successful as they have now obtained the rights to the film but whether or not the original cast has agreed to join is still uncertain.
When will The Cursed Child be released?
The film was rumoured to be released at the end of 2020 but experienced some delays due to the global pandemic. However, Warner Bros has yet to actually confirm a release date for The Cursed Child.
Currently, the studio is tied up with their five Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them prequels. The series won’t be completed until the mid-2020s and has already experienced some delayed due to the pandemic which could mean that The Cursed Child may not be hitting our screens until closer to 2030. If this is the case then the cast would be at the perfect age to play their characters 19 years after the last film.
However, this is all speculation as yet and we will just have to wait and see what happens
What will the movie be about?
Spoiler Alert: For those that haven’t read or seen the play yet you may want to look away.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child takes place 19 years after the last Harry Potter book and follows Harry, who is now the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, his son Albus Potter who is starting his first year at Hogwarts and makes an unlikely friendship with Scorpius, the son of Harry’s enemy Draco Malfoy.
The plot of the story sees the three equipped with a much more advanced version of the time turner, where they make the journey to save Cedric Diggory from his death in the Tri-Wizard Tournament.
The script of the play is a two-book compilation and we can only hope that WB takes heed and does the same for the films.
Rumours of the film come from the same source who leaked that the production company was Marvel was planning a She-Hulk film and that Ewan McGregor would be returning once again as Obi-Wan and those rumours turned out to be correct. So fingers crossed for some new Harry Potter films!
