Dame Edna, played by the talented Barry Humphries, is making a grand return to the screens later this year. The new show will be called The Dame Edna Show and should be flooded with all the usual grace and charm we have come to expect when imagining the wisteria-hued hair and comical cat-eye glasses.

The character was originally created by Humphries in the 1960s and it wasn’t until 1987 that character rose to stardom, winning the hearts of the nation through good-natured comedy and barrels of laughs!
Speaking of her fabulous upcoming appearance, Dame Edna announced, “The world needs sunshine so I am very happy to welcome you all on board…One hour on my yacht is better than a lifetime on a cruise liner.”
Despite a gap of 12 years between her last major TV project and this, the act shouldn’t be too rusty as she has been in no way camera-shy since! Following the end of her ITV talk show, The Dame Edna Treatment, she has made guest appearances as well as performing on several world tours. In fact, it appears that Dame Edna has a US and Australia tour already in the books for later this year!
