Even if, for the moment, the 27-year-old actor prefers to focus on other projects, that doesn’t mean he would absolutely never go back to the series that made his fame. But according to Daniel Radcliffe, his return to Harry Potter would depend on the success of his career. The famous actor explained on French show 20 Minutes:

I’m not old enough yet to go back to that role for the films, and when I will be, I hope that I will have moved on to something else.
Though there are plenty of spin-off films, books and games in the Harry Potter franchise such as Mysterious Beasts, we still miss seeing the famous trio. Unfortunately, Daniel Radcliffe believes that returning his most well-known role would count as a failure.
If I return to Harry Potter at 40 years old, that means I will have failed as an actor! I’d never close that door completely, of course—that’d be silly. But I think that I would be alright with leaving Harry to someone else.
Though his decision seems pretty final, a return still isn’t completely impossible…
