I’ve never shown anyone the first picture. I’ve come so far and I don’t recognise her at all. A mentally/physically unhealthy phase I was able to overcome.
‘Happiness and mental health’
Demi explained that in 2018 she had put on weight due to being in a toxic relationship. She said: ‘I wasn’t seeing my friends, I wasn’t going out, I was eating so unhealthy, in a really bad lifestyle. And I came out of the relationship, I started seeing my friends again, I started becoming happy again and, believe it or not, the weight just dropped off me.’
Alongside a more positive mental attitude, Demi also credited Slimming World with helping her. Although she didn’t attend regularly, she says she loosely followed their plan, cutting out bread, chocolate and takeaways and avoiding snacking. This led to her losing two stone over the course of 2019.
Although she admitted to hitting the gym every day in the six weeks before she entered the Love Island villa, Demi advised against crash diets, telling her followers:
It’s a journey and takes time to build good and healthy habits. Everyone takes different time. I was never too strict and took my time.
