The Carter family have been running things at the Queen Vic for the last seven years. After buying the legendary boozer from Phil Mitchell in 2013, the Carters have had an eventful few years at the helm – but according to a soap insider, those days are now numbered as Mick is set to move them out in an effort to support Linda’s recovery from alcoholism.

Speaking to the Sun, a soap insider revealed: ‘With Linda struggling to quit booze it makes sense Mick moves the family out the pub. His decision will spark a bidding war between some of the residents who fancy taking on the biggest job in Walford. Viewers will be sad to see Danny no longer behind the bar, but that doesn’t mean he won’t return at some point in the future.’
It has not yet been revealed which Walford residents will be involved in the ‘bidding war’ but Max Branning, Phil Mitchell and Sharon Mitchell are all potential contenders who could have the money behind them to make such an investment. William Hill are also giving 20/1 odds on outsider Karen Taylor – though the skint mum-of-six would need a significant windfall or a flush partner to be in the running.
Queen Vic landlords through the years
The pub has changed hands several times over the years. When the soap first started in 1985, Sharon Mitchell’s adoptive parents Den and Angie Watts were running the pub. Since then, the landlords and ladies have included many iconic characters including Frank and Pat Butcher, Sharon herself, various members of the Mitchell family and Kat and Alfie Moon.
Luckily for fans of the Carters, actors Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright aren’t going anywhere as Mick and Linda will be leaving the pub to move in somewhere else across the Square. And from the sounds of things, they could well return to the Queen Vic at some point in the future…
