Molly-Mae Hague celebrated her 21st birthday in style this week, despite the UK still being in lockdown. Boyfriend Tommy Fury pulled out all the stops – filling their Manchester flat with pink balloons and lavishing her with expensive gifts, including a Cartier ring and a puppy. But fans weren’t impressed when they found out where the puppy came from.

Whilst the Pomeranian pup was meant to arrive on Molly-Mae’s birthday, she had to settle for a hand-written note from Tommy on the big day explaining that their new pet was on its way. She then took to her Instagram stories on Thursday night to explain that the delay was due to the puppy coming all the way from Russia.
A host of Molly-Mae’s fans took to Twitter to express their outrage over the couple’s bizarre decision to buy their pup from abroad. One wrote:
Wait Molly Mae is having a puppy shipped to her from Russia? There’s literally so many dogs sat in adoption centres and they choose to get a dog shipped from another country wtf is that about?
Others were concerned about the implications of getting a dog sent from another country in the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic – especially since Russia’s borders have been closed to foreign visitors since March. Another tweeted:
Are you realllllly telling me that Tommy Fury thought its was necessary to get Molly Mae a puppy from Russia, for it to be a Pomeranian, a breed widely available in the UK, without the dog having to suffer from all the travel laughable.
Molly-Mae and Tommy are yet to respond to any of the criticism – but shared plenty of selfies cuddling their new pooch, who they’ve named Mr. Chai. Molly-Mae shared a 4am selfie with the wide-awake pup captioned ‘No sleep gang. Training starts tomorrow’- well, he’s probably jet-lagged to be fair…
