Who is Abdul?
The young 29-year-old potential baking genius was born to Pakistani parents and raised in Saudi Arabia, as per a report by Radio Times. His full name is, according to his Instagramhandle, Abdul Rehman Sharif.
By profession, Abdul is an electronics engineer, and as a baker, he wants to walk in last year’s winner Giuseppe’s footsteps and take home the top prize of being this season’s Star Baker.
Abdul lives in London and his love of baking developed relatively late in life: when he and his colleagues baked one another delicious new edibles during their coffee breaks.
Abdul is hardcore into engineering and mathematics and likes to apply his knowledge of both the subjects while baking. Interestingly, matcha is one of his favorite flavors.
About his baking aspirations, Abdul said in a statement:
Most of what I have learnt is either through books or YouTube videos, my favorite author is James Morton. His books are stunning, they go in depth about the what, why and how of baking which is an essential for beginners; his recipes are quite basic but his explanations are out of this world!
And then went on to add that his friends and family has been his pillar of strength and support, saying:
…Finally encouragement from friends or family asking me to make various bakes, which in turn pushes me to go out there and find some delicious bakes to make.
He had never thought that he would make it to the competition, saying:
Absolutely and definitely I didn’t (think I would make it), not even a glimpse or a thought that I would make it through and actually be in the tent
All about The Great British Bake Off 2022
On September 13, the 13th instalment of The Great British Bake Off started airing on Channel 4 at 8 PM with episodes coming out every week. The rules remain pretty much the same: each of the 12 contestants will battle it out (with dough) to impress returning judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywoodwith their off-beat creations, according to TellyMix.
All the episodes will be available on All4, the network’s streaming platform, according to Android Central.
