Although late entry Greg O’Shea and ‘Queen of the villa’ Amber Gill stormed to victory in last year’s series of Love Island, their romance didn’t last long on the outside. Now, eight months on, Greg has finally revealed the real reasons that their relationship didn’t work out – and hits back at the claims he brutally dumped Amber by text.

After recently speaking out about the backlash he received online after their split, Greg has now talked about why he really ended things. Chatting to Goss.ie, Greg said:
She's class and she's got everything going for her. But the issue was, when I came home I stuck myself into training. I could have tried harder but that would have made her unhappy. I couldn't give her what she wants and needs.
He also defended himself over claims he brutally dumped her by text, saying:
There was so much more to it. We were in person, we were FaceTiming, there was phone calls back and forth and then just one thing comes out. There's no point in even fighting it because you're just fighting a losing battle.
Although Greg has moved on and dated other girls since then, he’s currently single and focusing on his rugby. Whilst he was set to go to the Olympics this summer, that’s now been pushed back a year due to the coronavirus crisis. Meanwhile, Amber is also living her best single life – and even recently teased plans to enter politics.
Despite the somewhat messy break-up, Greg insists that he and Amber are now good pals, saying:
Me and Amber have spoken privately, I don't think anyone really knows this. We've spoken privately since and we're both like yeah, no hard feelings, we probably could have dealt with the situation better. We get on and there's no hard feelings, that's all that matters really.
