Fake set up
Springbrook National Park is described as a ‘lowland subtropical rainforest’ rather than a jungle. So to ensure that the production unit and the campmates are not drenched in rain, the show boasts a man-made roof where the recording equipment and food are kept.
Mirror reported that the roof doesn’t cover the campmates’ beds when they sleep at night but it does cover a significant area of the jungle. A TV insider said:
A lot of the camp is not under shelter - it’s not like the roof at Wimbledon
This comes after fans have been fuming that despite ‘torrential rain,' the campmates never seem to have wet hair. One said:
Funny that when it’s pouring down with rain the fire's still going and their hair's never wet #ImACeleb
Another added:
The fact all the celebrities are completely dry when it's supposedly 'torrential rain' just shows how much of a set-up it all is.
Insiders have also revealed that the waterfall shower actually has an ‘off switch’ which cuts the water supply between 3pm to 6pm to conserve water.
Film set
Alison Hammond, who took part in the tenth season of the ITV jungle show also spilt the jungle secret. She earlier said:
No, you can't [sunbathe]. There's trees everywhere and also they've got this canopy for lighting.
You feel like you're on a camping film set but you can't see the cameras.
