First royal ever
After signing the likes of comic Seann Walsh and DJ Chris Moyles, I’m A Celeb has reportedly signed up its first-ever royal family member – Mike Tindall. The former England rugby ace is married to late Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter Zara Tindall. Mike is said to be the biggest signing for the show this year.
The last time a major family show featured a royal family member was in 1987 when It’s A Royal Knockout charity edition invited Anne, Andrew and Edward. The ill-fated appearance left the Queen and Prince Philip ‘dismayed.’
Meanwhile, the details of the alleged signing and contract with Mike Tindall are still a secret to the world. A source told The Sun:
It’s a massive coup. Mike has had a box seat for some of the most important moments in royal history for generations.
He is sure to be discreet, but his sheer presence means this series will be an absolute must-watch.
Jungle-time
Mike Tindall married Zara Tindall – Princess Anne’s daughter from her first marriage with Captain Mark Phillips – in 2011. He has, since then, been an intimate part of the family even though Zara and Mike are non-working royal family members.
I’m A Celeb bosses have not made any official announcement yet, Mirror confirms that a spokesperson from the show said in a statement:
Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! are just speculation. We'll announce our lineup for the new series nearer its transmission.
