The fifth series of Love Island, the UK’s most-watched reality TV show, has returned to our screens but despite all the drama unfolding on-screen, it appears viewers have noticed a few too many coincidences linking this year’s contestants.

Molly-Mae was the first islander fix to be hinted at following the emergence of photographs depicting the influencer on a cosy night out with the rumoured beau of show presenter, Caroline Flack.
Another contestant with links from last year as well as in the current villa is surfer, Lucie Donlan. Lucie appeared in headlines just before the series aired as it had come to light that she dated ex-islander Charlie Frederick for a brief spell after his stint on the show.
A further coincidence is the fact that Charlie’s friend, Danny Williams, is the latest male addition to the cast and while it seems obvious that the model would have come into contact with Lucie, the pair have continued to act as strangers while Lucie spends most of her time focussing on getting to know Joe.
Finally, it is the clear link tying together island newbie, Maura Higgins, with professional boxer, Tommy Fury, which seems to be the final straw in the catalogue of coincidental connections.
