Joseph Garratt has found love with stunning American model Desiree Schlotz. Whilst they only recently went public with their relationship, they’ve been in a long-distance relationship since the start of this year. In a very on-brand move, Joe–who was known as the Sandwich Man in the villa–slid into Desiree’s DMs with a message about cookies.

A (cookie) recipe for love
He told OK!:
She posted these cookies, these American Toll House cookies. So I slid into her DMs and was like 'Oh my days, I love them cookies so much' with like loads of love heart eyes. As soon as I sent it I went oh my God that was too keen so I unsent it and sent it back with just one heart eyes. She saw the original message though. She still replied! I can't believe she still replied.
A long-distance relationship
Whilst Covid-19 scuppered their initial plans to meet in Miami, they were able to meet in person when Desiree flew to the UK in February. After that, the ongoing pandemic meant that their blossoming romance had to be conducted at a distance, with Desiree in the States and Joe still home in the UK.
Joe admitted that long-distance was ‘really, really hard’ but he and Desiree kept their romance going through the long months of lockdown. They were finally reunited in the Maldives at the start of October–and Joe sealed their relationship by drawing a heart in the sand and asking Desiree to be his girlfriend.
Desiree accepted and a delighted Joe says he’s the happiest he’s ever been now that he’s with his new girlfriend. He told OK!:
I feel like I finally found someone who gets me. I think she's a really understanding person. I feel like I've met my equal in female version. I don't think I've ever been happier.
