Former Atomic Kitten star and reality TV stalwart Kerry Katona made a special appearance on Loose Women this Monday alongside her oldest daughter, Molly, 18. The pair were on to kick off a special week of Mothers’ Day episodes and opened up about their mother-daughter relationship to presenters Andrea McLean, Stacey Solomon, Saira Khan and Jane Moore.

Things got emotional as Molly revealed that she suffered teasing at school due to her mum’s previous struggles with drug addiction and Kerry came close to tears when speaking about the regret she feels that her children are ‘scrutinised or brought down because of [her] past mistakes’.
However, Kerry also admitted that she’d be keen for Molly to follow in her footsteps as a reality TV star – joking that she wants her to sign up for Love Island so that she can buy her a new house. Molly previously wrote on Insta that she was ‘deffo applying for next year’ when a relative commented that she looked like she’d had her lips done in a recent selfie.
Molly, whose dad is Westlife singer Brian McFadden, wouldn’t be the first relative of a famous face to appear on Love Island, as Danny Dyer’s daughter Dani, Tyson Fury’s brother Tommy and Rochelle Humes’ sister Sophie Piper have all appeared on the show in recent series. She’s also already got a solid Insta following – which is known to be something Love Island producers look for.
However, Molly herself squashed the speculation when quizzed on the rumours by Andrea McLean, saying ‘No, absolutely not. I'll leave the reality TV to my mum.’ Instead, the 18-year-old said she’s hoping to go to university. Kerry’s second daughter Lilly is too young to apply this year, but maybe she’ll be keener to follow her mum’s career path in a couple of years’ time…
