Love Island 2021 is looking more and more likely to go ahead, despite the lack of official confirmation. Producers are pressing ahead with casting this year’s Islanders and presenter Laura Whitmore confirmed in an interview this week that she’s been told the series is still set to go ahead this summer.

Speaking to The Telegraph’s Stella magazine, Laura revealed:
I have been told that it’s coming back. I love doing it, it’s such a fun show. And I actually think it’s been good to have had that break, for everyone who works on it, because we all went through a loss. It’s nice to realise how much people missed the show. Apparently applications are crazy this year. Let’s just pray the vaccines kick in.
‘Love Island Extra Baggage’
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said this week that all UK adults will be offered their first jab by 31st July. But Laura suggested that if only older people have been vaccinated in time, they could do a special series of 'Love Island Extra Baggage,' with people who have ex-husbands and kids’.
Laura also squashed any rumours that she won’t return to presenting Love Island as she’s due to welcome her first baby with husband Iain Stirling very soon. She said:
When people ask if I’m going to give up work this year because of the baby, I’m like, 'Why? Mum did it in ’80s Ireland!'
How will Covid affect Love Island 2021?
There’s no doubt that the coronavirus pandemic will have an impact on Love Island 2021. It’s still not clear whether the show will be filmed in Majorca as usual or in a new location in the UK. Producers are also thought to be setting aside a bigger budget than usual in order to have back-up Islanders in case any test Covid-positive and can’t enter the villa.
