Casting are actively approaching for someone who visibly has a disability. It’s all part of the show trying to be as diverse as possible. The final line-up hasn’t been sorted yet but it would be ideal if they had at least one disabled islander.
Milly Pickles for Love Island 2021?
Influencer and para-athlete Milly Pickles—who had her right leg amputated in 2017 after she was electrocuted in an accident at university—has confirmed that she’s been approached by Love Island. Milly already has a 25,000-strong Instagram following and over five million likes on TikTok.
However, she has confirmed that she turned down the opportunity to enter the Love Island villa this summer. Taking to her Instagram story this week, she shared a video from fitness influencer Lucy Davis, who was contacted for an article about setting realisticbodygoals since ‘most of the contestants in the villa usually look the same body-wise’.
Milly wrote:
Everyone go watch Lucy’s story! Doesn’t look like there will be much diversity on Love Island this year. Unfortunately the show isn’t for me which is why I said no but I think it is a huge shame that they haven’t tried to get more representation, disappointing.
When will the official Love Island 2021 line up be revealed?
We’ll have to wait for the official Love Island line up to be revealed to know for sure whether the cast will be more diverse this year. In previous years, the official starting line up has been revealed just under a week before the show starts—meaning we’ll most likely get an official Love Island 2021 line up sometime next week, ahead of the show’s launch on Monday 28 June.
