Love Island bosses promised two editions of ITV2’s dating reality show this year - the winter and Summer series. However, they have a delightful surprise in store for us this year. A new spin-off show Love Island The Games will be airing in September for all those who miss seeing their favourite celebs on TV.

What is Love Island The Games?
Unfortunately (or fortunately), there’s not much information available on what the spin-off show would be like. ITV aired The Games last year which saw celebs train in Olympics-style challenges. If that’s any indication, Love Island The Games would probably see former stars take part in sports or related challenges.
Having debuted in 2003 on Channel 4, the revived series saw celebrities training hard to compete in Olympics-style challenges. Last year’s The Games were presented by Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff, with track-side commentary from Chris Kamara and Alex Scott.
According to Cosmopolitan, the new spin-off series will bring together former Islanders from the UK, USA and Australia. Its format is still uncertain in the sense that no one knows if it’ll be pre-recorded and then aired on TV or run a similar course as the classic versions of Love Island. Meaning, broadcasting while filming simultaneously.

When will it air and who will take part in it?
Two-time Love Island star Kady McDermott - who recently split with Ouzy See - let it slip that she was approached to be a part of Love Island The Games. The Mirror reported that during her podcast with Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks, she let it slip that she has denied being on the spin-off show.
Kady said on Staying Relevant:
I got asked to do Love Island The Games in September - I’ve had enough, I’m retired for the year. I’ll leave that one.
As such, the spin-off will air in September or start filming. Apart from that, show bosses have kept their cards close to their chests. Regardless, watching Love Island stars again on TV is an opportunity that everyone’s looking forward to.
