Love Island, the nation’s most-watched reality TV show, has returned to our screens for the fifth series and despite initial fan reactions suggesting this could be a somewhat disappointing series, the last few days have witnessed a rapid U-turn.

Within this past week, the villa has witnessed the beginnings of a love-triangle between Lucie, Joe and Tommy, followed by its abrupt end, the half-boyfriend and girlfriend status of Curtis and Amy, the subsequent controversial exclusivity of Joe and Lucie and a ‘love-square’ for Molly-Mae.
But one girl who is far from the type to sit on the fence is Maura Higgins who recently revealed she is prepared to go “extreme” in order to find the perfect guy stating, “you’re in there to find love at the end of the day”.
Therefore it may come as a surprise to some viewers that following her flirtatious display in the villa with Tommy Fury, according to one of her social media accounts, the Longford model is actually engaged.
ITV2 bosses have since denied this, ensuring that all contestants are single as they enter the Majorcan villa for their summer of dating. While there are no photos pointing towards a secret romance on her Instagram, fans have suggested that it is likely that she has an alternative account for close family and friends.
