It's been a seriously dramatic year for former Love Islander Marcel Somerville. Aside from the whole global pandemic thing, he's announced he's expecting a baby with partner Rebecca Vieira, been rushed to hospital after suffering a complication from previously undiagnosed Type 1 diabetes, and gotten engaged.

Now he's been through a terrifying ordeal as he and a friend were attacked whilst in their car in London this weekend. Marcel and his pal were on their way to dinner in East London when they were set upon by a masked gang wielding machetes.
A source close to Marcel explained what happened to OK! Magazine, saying that a group of people on mopeds started approaching their car, getting closer when they stopped at traffic lights and 'looking shady'.
The source continued:
When Marcel and his friend pulled into a side street to park up they saw the mopeds head towards them again. Each moped had two people on and they kind of circled around the car. As Marcel opened his car door two of the gang got off the bikes and went for him with their machetes drawn swinging them at him. So he quickly closed the door and they locked the car from the inside.
The gang reportedly started hitting the car windows, shouting at Marcel and his pal to 'get out the f***ing car' but the pair were able to drive away. Thankfully both Marcel and his friend were unhurt in the incident though he is said to be 'shaken' - which is pretty understandable.
