Maura Higgins weight loss
She said:
With the exercise, it's very easy to get obsessed with it. It got to a stage where it was actually affecting my periods; I lost my period for four months. Especially at my age, it's obviously not good. I want to have kids someday so I know that's just not a good thing to happen.
At this point, Maura’s mum, along with her boyfriend Chris Taylor, intervened to help her get back to a healthy weight. This led to Maura slowing down on her exercise regime and upping her calories. She says she now exercises once or twice a week and tries to eat healthily during the week before treating herself to whatever she wants at the weekend.
Maura Higgins baby plans
Maura also opened up about her hopes to start a family, saying:
Since turning 30 I'm more broody. My best friend back home just had a baby and honestly my ovaries are not able to cope. I'm so excited to have a baby some day. It's still one of my biggest fears, childbirth, but I'll definitely, definitely want a baby some day.
Maura has been happily coupled up with fellow former Islander Chris Taylor since last year. They went public with their relationship in November 2020 after months of speculation. One thing’s for certain - if Maura and Chris end up having kids together, they’ll be both gorgeous and hilarious!
