Maura Higgins may not be getting a chance to re-enter the Love Island villa this summer, but she will be appearing on our screens in a brand new reality show. Maura’s one-off special, Maura Higgins: You’re Joking Me, was originally set to air in February but was pushed back at the last minute for unknown reasons.

Now, it looks like we’ll soon be able to see the reality documentary, with Maura revealing a teaser on her Instagram story. The one-off episode will follow Maura as she trains to take part in a gruelling extreme obstacle course, the Spartan Race, at Twickenham rugby ground. The Spartan Race is a 5km course with 20 obstacles that test competitors’ strength, agility and endurance. It took place in December 2019
In the voiceover of the trailer, Maura can be heard saying: ‘One minute I’m living my Love Island dream, the next I’m face to face with my worst nightmare, thanks ITV2!’. She can also be heard telling a coach that she’d ‘rather stick pins in my eyeballs’ - although it’s not clear yet what she’s talking about.
Maura’s now-ex-boyfriend Curtis Pritchard can also be seen in the trailer cheering her own – since at the time of filming they would still have been together. Maura and Curtis split in March this year after struggling to find time for each other and facing rumours of infidelity on both sides – although they’ve both denied any wrongdoing.
Maura Higgins is currently single – although she’s been rumoured to be dating fellow former Islander Chris Taylor. The good-looking pair have been spending a lot of time together recently and an insider source has claimed that Chris is ‘besotted’ with Maura. Last week, they posted matching Instagram posts in Mickey and Minnie dressing gowns – Chris’ captioned ‘just need to find a Minnie’ and Maura’s captioned ‘just need to find a Mickey’. Cute!
